Music of Israel - A Modern Odyssey

My children attend a Hebrew day school and a large part of their Jewish heritage was learned through song. As I listened with them, I heard the tragedy of Jewish suffering as well as the joy of Jewish survival. Some of these melodies lent themselves to interpretation, so I decided to record a few on a nylon string guitar. My hope was to modernize these songs and make them accessible and enjoyable to people from all walks of life. I hope you enjoy listening to this CD as much as I enjoyed making it.

Original cover art commissioned for this album by Meni Conen. Born in Israel, Meni came to Canada in 1987. In 1992 he became one of the founding members, and for several years the chair of the Israeli Artists Group of Toronto.
